What is TOEFL?
The TOEFL test (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a qualification used by universities, organisations and agencies in many countries around the world to show proof of individuals’ English language proficiency.
The TOEFL test has an academic focus, and uses integrated tasks to assess learners’ ability to combine reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. In an integrated task, candidates may be asked to listen to a lecture and read an article, before producing a spoken or written response. The test has four parts: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Each part of the test is scored out of 30 and there is also a total score, which is out of 120. There is no pass or fail grade in the TOEFL test: universities and other organisations set their own score requirements. TOEFL scores are valid for two years.

Who is TOEFL for?
The test is a good choice for people who plan to work or study in an English-speaking environment. TOEFL is an internationally recognised qualification that shows individuals’ level of English language proficiency.
Our TOEFL preparation courses are suitable for people at all levels of English from intermediate (B1) to advanced (C2), with a minimum age of 16.

Course outline
Your course aims to deliver measurable results as quickly as possible. Your trainer will talk to you about why you are taking the test, what score you aim to achieve and learn more about your English learning background. You will then have the opportunity to take a practice test. This will give you and your trainer a clear idea of what your English level is at the start of the course, and what you need to do to improve it.

In addition to developing your language skills the course will familiarise you with all the different aspects of the TOEFL test, and give you practice in completing different task types.

Your trainer will provide you with homework – which will involve practising different parts of the test with past test papers. You will be given detailed feedback on your spoken and written English, which will help you eliminate mistakes. Your trainer will also analyse your performance in Reading and Listening practice tests, in order to identify areas where you can improve.
